Agriculture plays a big role in Colombia's economy. Coffee is a major export, freshly cut flowers and bananas are also major export. Oil is another main export. Natural gas, coal, iron ore, ect; are good contributors to the economy. Colombia mines have the largest source of emeralds in the world. Unemployment rates are high, there currently above 10% in Colombia. Rural poverty and unequal distribution of income are serious problems currently. The currency is the Colombian peso (COP). The economy is challenged by dieing infrastructure, illegal drug trade, and violence.
